□ Name: Piers Nivans
□ Series: Resident Evil 6
□ Canon point: End Game
□ History: Plot of RE6
□ Personality:
Piers is the young hotshot of the North American B.S.A.A. (Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance , it is an organization founded by the Global Pharmaceutical Consortium at the request of the U.S. Government. Officially backed by the United Nations, their main purpose is to combat, prevent, and exterminate bio-terrorism). Piers is the top ranking Sniper of the B.S.A.A and the self proclaimed best driver at the age of twenty-five (as of 2012). He is second in command to the legendary Chris Redfield.
Piers is from a military background, several generations of his family all comprised of enlisted men on his father’s side. He graduated at the top of his class from an elite military academy, where his skills as a sniper were highly touted. Following his graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Special Forces, something which left Piers feeling lackluster. He yearned to make a difference, a mark on the world and do something he felt would have an impact. Even during this point in his life he was still a model soldier, doing his drills with no trouble. He had been through thorough training and is able to rewire missiles, security boxes and many of the electronics they cross paths with. A cure for what ‘ailed’ him came when he met Chris, who seeing Pier’s abilities as a sniper asked him to join the B.S.A.A.
Piers, despite being young, is a thorough tactician and very focused on the battlefield. He is stern in his beliefs and the sort to follow orders, even if he doesn't always agree wit the ones he has been given. One such instance is when Piers finally speaks up and tells Chris that his desire to hunt down Ada will not go well for them. That he believes Chris’ desire for revenge is clouding his judgement. They have a small tussle in which Chris decides he will go regardless of if Nivans will follow, but Piers does because he does not believe in leaving a man behind, no matter what.
Despite being serious and determined on the battlefield he still offers a kindness to the other soldiers in his unit. Pausing occasionally to encourage them, or to even listen to their words-- even if he finds them to be childish. Piers is a tough-love sort of guy on most occasions as far as other officers are concerned. He confronts Chris directly about his abandonment of the B.S.A.A., tells Finn to suck it up when he acts nervous and seems to generally roll his eyes at the other soldier’s star-struck behavior; even though the two men were no doubt around the same age. This is probably because Nivans thinks of his teammates as members of a large family as opposed to working companions or subordinates, as he feels these relationships are integral to the continued functioning of the B.S.A.A.. Piers had been in it for the long term, and has been in it for a while, which is clear in his sometimes confrontational nature even with those he cares for. He’s been in the military so long that it has shaped his personality and the way he interacts with the other soldiers.
He also seems to care for the welfare of the general public. Upon coming across the chaos at the beginning of the game he seems genuinely upset, wanting to stop the terrorist threat and try and save as many people as possible by doing so. Though he isn't willing to put the mission at risk, as here are very few things that will cause Piers to stray from his mission objective or the orders of his superior officers. It's evidenced pretty clearly when he challenges Chris on one of his choices and when told to "fall in line" he looks ashamed that he broke rank as he did.
He's idolized Chris as many of the other soldiers have, but shows it more in loyalty and action than he does in words. When Chris goes missing Piers takes over leading the Alpha team, however he does not give up on Chris nor does he take his position as Captain. He scours Eastern Europe in order to find the man. Piers has a high level of loyalty, not only to the Chris but the B.S.A.A. and future generations of soldiers. He is noted to be not as strong of a captain as Chris, but that is in part to his youth and his inexperience in leadership positions. He is determined to see Chris returned to his former rank and status as leader. He doesn't believe himself able to replace the man, as he looked up to him like many of the other young soldiers did. Even when Chris offers to let Piers take over because he desires to retire, Piers refuses. He feels the B.S.A.A. needs Chris, more than himself, because he is a man many of them have relied upon and looked up to through the years. Even those who are new or have not been on Chris’ team before, like Finn, find themselves looking up to him as a source of inspiration.
On that same not it’s clear that Piers seems to lack sense of security about himself, he sees himself as unimportant in the bigger picture. He throws himself into danger often to push other team members out of the way and when he's downed he'll often say "I'm not going to die like this." Piers seems to accept, even at his young age, that he might not live long because of his career choice and dealing with the B.O.W.s. He thinks of the other teammates as worth more to the world and the team. Because of this he feels more comfortable as a follower than a leader. While he is quick and efficient he would rather work within the confines of his command and get the job done. He is quick and talented, but more comfortable with someone else in the lead.
Nearing the end of RE6 Piers pushes Chris out of the way and ends up grabbed by a giant mutant, thrown and hit with shrapnel to the point that his right arm is nearly ruined. Metal sticking through it and blood gushing at an alarming rate he decides the only way to ensure the future and to save Chris is to inject himself with the C-Virus. The virus works quickly, coursing through his body and changing him into a half-mutant. His right arm completely disfigured along with the right side of his face, both lanced with scars. This malformed appendage allows him to release bio-energy with a similar effect to electricity or lightning. It's using this he manages to stun the beast, believing it dead, and saving Chris from what would most likely be his demise. This is important because Piers knows this will kill him, slowly drain him of his sense of self, and yet he is willing to do it for the future of the B.S.A.A., the civilians he knows would die and to save Chris. He wants to give everything he can and knows that a sniper with one arm will be no use, that if he didn't inject himself he and Chris would likely die and the giant mutant would escape. He sacrifices himself because he believes his life is less worthy than Chris', believes that the Alliance couldn't continue without the Captain at the helm.
They flee for the pods, and Piers stumbles, falls, he can feel himself coming apart and it's obvious that he has given up when he tells Chris to simply leave him. He knows that after all he's sacrificed he could be the reason that Chris dies if he loses control. So he ignores Chris' attempts to help, shoving him into the escape pod after shoving his uniform patch into his hand and locking him inside. It's the first time he's ever disobeyed an order, even offering Chris a smile when he demands he opens the door. Because he knows it's an order that isn't for the better of the Alliance. He doesn't want to be a risk, doesn't want to lose himself, and wants his last action to be that of a hero and not of a coward. I think Piers hopes that he can be remembered as something other than a monster by saving Chris, that this will be the final straw to push Chris back into his place as Captain and save him from himself and his drinking.
It's no clearer that Piers allows himself to be lead by his moral compass, than in this moment. He always feels a sense of responsibility-- not only for himself but those around him. He is called the man "who never misses a target" and such things could probably be said about his personal life. He seems to favor the straight and narrow, and while not being harsh he doesn't let things slide if he feels them unjust.
□ Age: 26
□ Gender: Male
□ Appearance: Piers was relatively handsome, of a thinner frame than Chris but still well built. Short brown hair and his trademark favorite scarf. After the infection he'll be left scarred down his right side and blind in one eye.
□ Abilities/Powers: None, upon entry to Ariel I'd like his lightening arm to be repaired down to a human level, leaving him scarred and blinded in one eye but not completely mutated; if that's alright?
□ Personal Items:
•BSAA Uniform + Scarf
•Leather Jacket

This is Piers Nivans, second in command of the North American B.S.A.A. [ A beat as he seems to still be trying to assess the way the chip in his head functions, if it's properly transmitting or not. ] I have no longitudinal coordinates to rally, nearest landmark is a central courtyard and building. Estimating one kilometer north of aforementioned landmark.

Awkward would be one name for it, though Piers prided himself on getting a better grip on his temperament once all was said and done. Of course, he could deal with rooming with someone else-- it's basically par for the course going through the military-- though of all people to find already occupying the room, Muller? It's as if the fates have already deigned it acceptable to mock him once more.
He's no longer military-- the arm saw to that-- but he did consulting for the BSAA as it stood. Not much use for a sniper with one arm. He had to laugh, not much use at all. He was dead, more or less, officially; it stung, no where to go back to, at least no where he was allowed. But burying into work was better than being stranded. Can't get veterans benefits if you're dead; not that he wanted them, but the point was irritating in it's own right.
A slight hunch of his shoulders as he drops his Sitka S-type Gearslinger near one of the dressers. It's a tactical bag, but useful, single strapped, silver; adjusting his nature but not forgetting it. "Muller." And it's all practiced military arrogance behind the words; because it's far easier to sink into that than the truth that could come otherwise. Wasn't and couldn't were a long way apart for him these days. Not that he wouldn't have tried, if it was his mission, Piers had only ever defied orders once in his career; and even then he thought he was going to die so what did it matter?
Sure, part of him should be grateful, or so he was told, when he washed up that they had been able to cure him. Sort-of. He still had a dozen scars littering the side of his body and one less arm to balance it all out-- but he wasn't one of them. He supposed he should thank Jake for that too, or his blood anyway, not that he was going to. But the though occurs to him anyway.
"I'm here to help with tactical training and information; B.S.A.A. is feeling a little cheap apparently, rooms double-booked." He raises both brows as if the statement will clear up the implication of why he's already pushing into the room and situating his things. Maybe less eye contact will make things less awkward.
Probably not.
